Backpack Program History
Feeding of America “Backpack Program” became official in 2006. The Montana Food Bank Network began implementing it in Missoula in late 2007. Currently there are 106 sites in 46 communities throughout Montana.
What is Backpack Program?
A program sponsored by the Bread Basket to provide bags filled with non-perishable food to kids on the last day before weekend or holiday. Each bag contains food for breakfast, lunch, snacks, milk & juice for Saturday & Sunday. Backpacks are distributed by school coordinators at K. William Harvey, Pablo Elementary, Ronan Middle school & newly added Charlo school.
What can I do?
To get involved, donate specifically to the “Backpack Program” to help kids in need. We are seeking sponsors to help sustain the Backpack Program. Donate food or volunteer at the Bread Basket, call our Volunteer Coordinator, Celie at 406 253-9900. The Bread Basket is open Tue & Fri, from 10-2. Send donations to:
